Daffodils by William Wordsworth

I. About the Poem

I wandered lonely as a Cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and Hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden Daffodils;

Beside the Lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the milky way,

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they

Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:-

A Poet could not but be gay

In such a jocund company:

I gazed---and gazed---but little thought

What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude,

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the Daffodils.

II. About the Poet

William Wordsworth (7 April 1770 – 23 April 1850) was a major English Romantic poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped to launch the Romantic Age in English literature with their joint publication Lyrical Ballads (1798).
Wordsworth's magnum opus is generally considered to be The Prelude, a semiautobiographical poem of his early years that he revised and expanded a number of times. It was posthumously titled and published, before which it was generally known as "the poem to Coleridge". Wordsworth was Britain's Poet Laureate from 1843 until his death in 1850.

III. My Reaction

A. Reaction Point - Rhyme

    The poem is rhymed, for example Cloud and crowd.

B. Reaction Point - Rhythm

    Part of "gazed---and gazed---"  become more rhythmical 

 than only "gazed", so we      can read it good rhythm.

C. Reaction Point - Simile
    Flowers are figuratively spoken the stars.

D. My General Opinion

    Daffodiles' language of flower is conceit and narcissism. I feel not only kindness of nature but also daffodils' brilliance and like self-assertive. I had warm feelings to read this poem.
