 Manuel is stuck in a monotonous job, has only one friend that he cannot stand, and his family despises him. Everything will change when the doctor diagnoses him with a rare disease - Manuel is going to turn into an elephant.

A. Reaction Point - characters

• an actor's portrayal of someone in a play
• In this story, main character is to become elephant and appear its family and friend.
• Main character realized own happiness to become elephant.

B. Reaction Point - message

• what a communication that is about something is about
• main character is unhappy man because he has only a friend, cannot be promoted, his family ignore him and become elephant.
• He was unhappy but he realized happiness. This story's message is that anyone don't know where happiness is.

C. Reaction Point - mood

• a characteristic state of feeling
• this story is used same song. 
• Using only a music is giving us same feeling. This song is felt sad so we felt that.

D. My General Opinion
   I was sad to watch this movie because main character is not loved by people. However, he find a happiness so finally, I feel happy and have a warm feeling.

Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

I. About the Novel

These story are written by Washington Irving.

Rip Van Winkle is a main chracter of first story. He meet an old man and sleep in a mountain twenty years.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a teacher's story.He loves a beautiful woman.However, one day,  he meet headless ghost. He disappear next day. She married other man.

This book was published in 2008.

III. About the Author

Washington Irving was born in New York, USA, in 1783. He was one of the first noted American authors to be highly acclaimed in Europe during his life time. He wrote numerous short stories, biographies, histories, and tales of his travels. His characters Ichabod Crane and Rip Van Winkle are now icons of popular American culture, and many of Irving’s works have inspired stage and movie adaptations. He died in 1859 and is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, New York.

A. Reaction Point -Protagonist(メインキャラクター)

• Protagonist means the most important character in a play, film, or story.
• Rip Van Winkle's main character is Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow's main character is Ichabod Crane.
• Rip Van Winkle is a man who hates to work and to meet his wife. Ichabod Crane is a good teacher in Tarry Town.

B. Reaction Point - Character(登場人物)

• Character means people in a book, play, film, or story.
• Rip Van Winkle's character are Rip's wife and his friends. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow's character are Katrina and Brom.
• Rip's wife is angry because he don't work everyday.  His friends meet him in his favorite bar. Katrina is a beautiful woman who is loved by Ichabod and Brom. Brom is a man who marry with Katrina in the end.

C. Reaction Point - Setting(設定、背景、場所)

• Setting means the place where something is or where something happens, and the general environment.
• Rip Van Winkle's story is in small town, America. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow's story is in Tarry Town.
• In Rip Van Winkle's story, there is a mountain in which he spend 20 years.

D. My General Opinion

I read the novel first time. First, Rip Van Winkle is bad man, so I think that he is unhappy is natural thing.
Secondaly, Ichabod Crane is good teacher, but I didn't think he is good man, so he couldn't marrie with beautiful girl.
